The traditional hamburger proved it wasn’t in fact “impossible” to substitute, and now Plant Based BBQ Sliders and Meatless Meatballs are proving the possibilities are many. Garden Inspirations from St. Simons Island, Georgia, USA-based Farm Rich is a new range of frozen plant-based food products expanding options for flexitarians, vegetarians and others looking to reduce meat consumption in their daily diet. The line includes ready meal options as well as appetizers and snacks made with plant-based ingredients.

Rolling out this month at Kroger stores in the United States (and online at Kroger.com and Instacart), the microwavable products are promoted as an easy way to make simple swaps. Following are brief descriptions of each SKU:

  • Meatless Meatballs: Made with a blend of soy and pea proteins, garlic, onion and other spices, they provide 12 grams of plant-based protein per serving.
  • Plant Based BBQ Sliders: Featuring pulled porkless soy shreds in a tangy BBQ sauce on a soft roll, the sliders come individually wrapped (two per pack), making them convenient for quick lunches, on-the-go snacks, and small meals. Plus, they pack 13 grams of plant-based protein per serving.

The 20-oz. Meatless Meatballs and 12.7-oz. Sliders are priced at around $7.99. Shoppers can find them the Meat Alternative section of Kroger store freezer aisles.

“Many of us are taking little – and some big – steps to limit how much meat we consume and expand our daily diet choices, and this innovative new line gives shoppers more plant-based options to choose from at the grocery store,” said Ciera Womack, Farm Rich’s senior marketing manager. “These products are just a taste of several new plant-based foods planned this year under our Garden Inspirations banner.”

Scheduled to roll out this summer from the Rich Products subsidiary company are Breaded Cauliflower Bites (whole florets rolled in a rice coating, complete with a sweet sesame dipping sauce) and Breaded Zucchini Sticks in a savory coating (paired with a side of tangy marinara dipping sauce).
