Frozens Fare Well in PLMA Salute to Excellence Awards Competition

Two frozen pizza products came out on top as big winners in the Private Label Manufacturers Association’s (PLMA) Salute to Excellence Awards competition. Whole Foods Market’s Peso Burrata Wood-Fired Pizza from Italy took the prize in the Food for the Family category, while United Natural Foods’ Culinary Circle Ultra Thin Crust Roasted Vegetable Pizza was best in the Natural Foods category.

The announcement was made on November 16 during 2025 “Store Brands Marketplace” Private Label Trade Show in Chicago, Illinois, USA. Close to 850 products were nominated for awards in food and non-food categories by 50 North American retailers.

Among other frozen product winners  were:

Seafood – Giant Eagle’s 16/20 Cooked Shrimp sold under the Nature’s Basket label.

Asian Inspired Foods – Essential Everyday brand Chicken Egg Rolls with Dipping Sauce from United Natural Foods.

Side Dishes – Southeastern Grocers’ Know & Love brand Broccoli & Cheese Tots.

Prepared Vegetables – Know and Love Cauliflower Tots from Southeastern Grocers.

Ice Cream & Gelato – Private Selections Carmelized Banana Gelato from the Kroger Company.

Frozen Novelties – Albertsons Companies’ Signature Select brand Mini Birthday Cake Sandwiches.

Bakery & Desserts – Market District brand Artisan Ciabatta Sandwich Rolls from Giant Eagle.
