The Fry Family Food Co. has announced the launch of two new plant-based chick’n products at Iceland stores and the retailer’s Food Warehouse outlets across the United Kingdom. This follows the debut of Popcorn Chick’n last year.

Fry’s plant-based Stars & Moons are lightly breaded faux chicken fun stars and moon shapes that are promoted as providing “a helping hand to busy mums and dads looking to offer their children plant-based options at tea time.”

The LiveKindly Collective brand’s Chick’n Fillets are versatile chicken-style options for family meal occasions. Each of the new 300g packs have a recommended retail price of £2.65 per 300 grams.

“We are delighted to bring these two new products to the UK. Inspired by our families and our kids, we are excited to deliver convenient and delicious plant-based options to the table,” said Tammy Fry, the company’s global brand manager.

She added: “Consumers, and especially those in the United Kingdom, are more aware now of what impact their food choices have on the environment. Plus, they have so many options to choose from, and ours are really good products without compromise on taste, texture, or convenience.”

Andrew Staniland, trading director at Iceland, commented: “Plant-based products such as Fry’s Stars & Moons are a great addition to our meat-free range, bringing visual appeal right from the pack through to the product itself. We know that kids are going to love it.”

The Fry’s range of frozen vegan food was awarded Best Vegan Meat in the VegFest Awards in the UK in 2020 and again in 2021.

Oumph! Spicy Drums Beat Path into Iceland

Meanwhile, another LikeKindly Collective company has landed a listing at Iceland retail outlets, with Oumph! Spicy Drums rolling out on April 4.

“As demand for plant-based products continues to grow, we know our customers are looking for meat-free alternatives for all their meal occasions, and snacking is no different,” said Staniland. “We’re really excited about this exclusive launch.”

Made from soya, Oumph! Spicy Drums are 100% gluten-free and easy to prepare straight from the home freezer in just 15 minutes.

“Drums are convenient and tap into the growing trend for spicier snacking products. We are pleased to be working with Iceland on the first phase of the launch,” said Domenico Speciale, LiveKindly Collective’s general manager in the UK.

Distributed in new style packaging made from recyclable cardboard, Oumph! Spicy Drums are priced at £3.50 per 280 grams.
