Members of the Lamb Weston Holdings executive team joined with distinguished guests to mark the grand opening of the company’s new potato processing plant in Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia on November 6.
The Eagle, Idaho, USA-headquartered company has been operating a manufacturing facility in Shangdu, Inner Mongolia, since 2014, and has a sales office in Shanghai. The new factory, located in an area known as “China’s Potato Capital,” is capable of producing 250 million pounds of frozen potato products annually. This additional capacity will provide added flexibility to meet growing customer demand in the region.
Approximately $250 million was invested in the factory, which brings more than 240 jobs to the local economy. The facility features state-of-the-art processing systems and equipment to support employee safety, food safety and quality, and sustainability.
“This investment demonstrates Lamb Weston’s commitment to growing our business in China,” said Tom Werner, president and chief executive officer of the company. “The new facility is the result of the hard work and dedication of many team members, and I’m proud of their accomplishments.”
