Lineage Logistics Completes Kloosterboer Group Acquisition

Novi, Michigan, USA-headquartered Lineage Logistics has completed its acquisition of the Kloosterboer Group, a Rotterdam, Netherlands-based family owned cold storage company with an international footprint. The companies have combined to create an enhanced facility network in key European markets.

Kloosterboer has 900 employees and 11 facilities in the Netherlands, France, Germany, Canada and South Africa offering 6.4 million cubic meters of capacity and 790,000 pallet positions. Its business is focused on port-based operations engaged in highly automated warehouse services, freight forwarding, customs brokerage, juice blending, container handling and intermodal transport.

Sustainability leadership in the sector has been a hallmark for Kloosterboer. Five facilities have been recognized by BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology) and the company’s use of nearly 18,000 solar panels and four wind turbines have reduced the equivalent CO2 consumption of more than 4,100 households.

Both companies are in the forefront in developing and operating the industry’s most sophisticated fully automated temperature-controlled warehouses. These buildings are capable of handling large quantities of product with an exceptional level of accuracy while using fewer resources, particularly electricity.

Lineage’s European operations are headquartered in Amsterdam, with a network spanning the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Poland, Spain and the United Kingdom. With Kloosterboer, it will add locations in France, Germany, South Africa and Canada. Acquired facilities on the on the Coast of Canada in Bayside, New Brunswick,  complement Lineage’s existing operations in Montreal and Ontario.
