Parsippany, New Jersey, USA-headquartered B&G Foods has acquired Wellesley, Massachusetts-based Farmwise LLC, whose retail frozen food brands include Veggie Fries, Veggie Tots and Veggie Rings. Terms of the cash transaction were not disclosed.

“We are excited to increase our great tasting, plant-based product offerings with the acquisition of Farmwise,” stated Jordan Greenberg, executive vice president and chief commercial officer of B&G Foods. “Dave and Cristina Peters, the founders of Farmwise, have done a tremendous job developing delicious, plant-based products that both parents and children love. We look forward to further supporting the Farmwise brand in the natural channel, while also introducing items that Farmwise has developed into new, innovative product offerings for our Green Giant frozen vegetable brand.”

Farmwise Veggie Fries, Tots and Rings are made from a blend of vegetables, legumes and potatoes that are chopped and blended together with herbs, spices and sea salt. All are vegan, Non-GMO Project Verified and free of allergens including gluten, wheat, soy, dairy, tree nuts and peanuts. Each variety has at least 27% of non-potato vegetables and legumes, containing nine vegetable servings and a substantial amount of vegetable nutrition in every bag.

“When Veggie Fries launched in 2014, it revolutionized the $50 billion dollar frozen french fry category by offering consumers a healthier alternative to the beloved fry, without sacrificing taste and delivering a crispy, crunchy texture,” said Dave Peters.
