Lyco Sanitary Zero Maintenance Screen Reclaims Wastewater

The global poultry and beef industries are becoming more cognizant of saving water and, at the same time, saving money by reusing their wastewater. Assisting in the process is the new Sanitary Zero Maintenance Screen from Columbus, Wisconsin, USA-based Lyco Manufacturing.

As state and local governments and other regulators push for tighter limits on the disposal of wastewater, poultry and beef packers are looking for efficient ways to meet these environmental mandates. Enter the Sanitary Zero Maintenance Screen, which filters wastewater and reclaims it for additional productive use in food processing systems. This significantly limits food manufacturers’ wastewater discharge, while also saving money.

The Sanitary Zero Maintenance Screen features the industry’s most sanitary rotary drum screen, which can filter up to 400 gallons of water per minute for reuse. This savings in water, when spread out over 12 months, means it can pay for itself in just a year’s time.

Lyco Sanitary Zero Maintenance ScreenThe machine comes with an advanced dual canister filtering system with screens to capture particulates as small as 200 microns, purifying the water enough to be used a second time. The unibody-designed screens cleaned by simply purging the system. Zero maintenance means that there is no need for daily lubrication of bearings, which on average last three to four years before replacement is required.

Three sizes of screens are available that can handle between 50 and 400 gallons per minute, giving customers the flexibility to select the right size for their application. The design has several features that make for easy cleaning. End plates come with added clearance for ample access for sanitizing and inspection; clean-in-place system with spray balls; side opening doors for complete access to the tank; and standoffs to eliminate hidden surfaces.

Among a myriad of other features are a solid, one-piece running ring for true performance, rapid filter change options, and an auto pressure purge option.
