Mark Foods, a New York City-headquartered importer, processor and marketer of seafood products, on July 14 announced that it will acquire Bristol Seafood, a Portland, Maine-based company known for premium scallop, groundfish and value-added marine product offerings. It partners with retailers and distributors throughout North America and operates the My Fish Dish, 44 North, Seafood Singles, Cedar Plank salmon and Grab & Go retail lines.
This acquisition expands Mark Foods’ portfolio, brings Bristol’s team into its operation and increases production capacity. The Bristol Seafood brand will remain in place and President & CEO Peter Handy will continue to lead category management activities. In addition, he will serve as Mark Foods’ chief operating officer, join its board of directors and become a shareholder.

“We are pleased to enter this agreement, which brings the Bristol team, customers and suppliers to Mark Foods. With the addition, we will be able to support our customers with new categories and expand our production footprint to include the Northeast region,” said CEO Barry Markman. “In addition, we are enthusiastic to explore Bristol’s B Corp certification and how we can bring these best practices and this certification to our company as a whole.”
“I am proud of Bristol’s 32-year history as a steady and committed partner for its team members, customers and suppliers, while making a positive impact on our community and the environment,” said Handy. “With this transaction, we will be joining a company I have long admired. I look forward to continuing our work and building on Bristol’s strong legacy as a part of Mark Foods.”
This is the latest in a series of investments undertaken by Mark Foods over the last five years, including the acquisitions of Arista Industries (2023), Endeavor Seafoods (2021), and Openwater Seafoods (2020).
The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, and the acquisition is expected to close in August 2025.
