Luca Quaresima, Europe Logistic and Operations Manager of NewCold Advanced Cold Logistics, has won the 2020 GCCA European Cold Chain Future Leader Award. It was presented during the recent Global Cold Chain Alliance European Cold Chain E-Conference, where over 140 temperature-controlled logistics professionals from 23 countries gathered online to share experiences and best practices, build relationships and meet virtually with industry suppliers.

“I am immensely proud to be recognized as a future leader in an industry that plays such a critical role in the movement of perishable products worldwide,” said Quaresima. “It was an honor to take part in the award competition and I enjoyed the experience very much.”

The GCCA Future Leader Award recognizes talented young professionals who have the potential to become future leaders and make positive contributions to development of the global temperature-controlled warehousing and logistics industry. Among other eligibility requirements for the prize, nominees had to demonstrate excellence in their work, the potential to excel further in the many facets within the industry and possess insight into their organization’s strategic values and direction, policies and ways of working.

Quaresima competed for the award with Aude Groensteen, Site Manager & Safety Officer of Stockhabo, Belgium. As part of the selection process, each nominee was interviewed and judged by a panel of industry leaders from across Europe. Candidates were evaluated on their knowledge level of the industry, track record of excellence, communication skills and leadership skills. In addition, the contestants delivered a short presentation to the panel of judges and the GCCA European Cold Chain E-Conference attendees.

“The quality of talent our industry possesses is outstanding,” commented Julie Hanson, the Brussels, Belgium-based director of GCCA operations in Europe. “We are committed to recognizing these cold chain professionals through the Future Leader and the Global NextGen Award programs.”

Quaresima will compete with other young leaders from around the world for the Global GCCA NextGen Award.
