Executives from Service Cold Storage (SCS) and the Tippmann Group on October 30 joined with city and state officials in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, USA, to break ground for construction of a new cold storage facility. Upon completion, it will feature 157,000 square feet of frozen food distribution space and provide 30 new jobs in the community.
“The opportunity to partner with both the Tippmann Group and the city of Stevens Point has been such a positive and exciting experience, resulting in the development and construction of a state-of-the-art cold storage/distribution facility in the newly developed Stevens Point East Park Commerce Center,” said Milton Austin, president of Service Cold Storage LLC. “The location gives us the ability to expand and grow in the ever-prospering economic community of Portage County and Stevens Point. ”
The warehouse, scheduled to be operational in June of 2014, will include 126,982 square feet of frozen storage space, an 18,700-square-foot shipping/receiving dock, maintenance and material handling areas totaling 4,166 square feet, a 2,813-square-foot machine room and a 4,200-square-foot, one-story office.
“We’re excited to be working with Service Cold Storage on the construction of this project,” said John Tippmann, Jr., president of the Tippmann Group. “We look forward to providing them with a first-class warehouse which will serve them well for years to come.”
