Economist Manu Bhaskaran, a Centennial Group International partner and founding director and chief executive officer of Centennial Asia Advisors, has been booked as the keynote speaker to kick off the three-day Seafood Expo Asia in Singapore, on September 10. His address, themed “Asia’s Prospects in an Uncertain World,” will focus on the Asian seafood industry and provide key insights into global trends and their implications for regional growth, currencies and investment strategies.
According to Diversified, the show organizer headquartered in Portland, Maine, USA, the session will explore uncertainties facing the global economic landscape due to complex and interrelated geopolitical, trade and financial factors. Other key topics of the discussion will include the real impact of trade wars beyond tariffs, identifying resilient and adaptive economies in Asia and beyond, the shifting role of the US dollar in global finance and the opportunities and challenges that will arise given the current landscape.
Based in Washington, DC, Bhaskaran coordinates independent economic research on Asian political and macroeconomic trends for investment institutions, government agencies, multilateral institutions and companies with interests in Asia. He also serves as an adjunct senior research fellow at Singapore’s Institute of Policy Studies, focusing on macroeconomic policy frameworks. Previously, Bhaskaran held senior roles at Société Générale’s Asian investment banking division, supervising Asian economic and investment strategy analysis and equity and economic research.
He has served as chairman of a high-level government committee reviewing regulation of moneylenders in Singapore and as a member of the city-state’s Competition Appeals Board. He is a Council Member of both Economic Society of Singapore and the Singapore Institute of International Affairs (SIIA) and an advisor to the Asia Foundation.
