Allergy Alert Prompts Recall of White Rabbit Pizza and Calzone Products

White Rabbit Pizza in the United Kingdom is recalling packs of Smokin Vegan Gluten Free, Vegan Gardener Gluten Free, and Chick’n Arrabbiata Pizza as well as Chick’n & Pesto Calzone because they contain milk which is not mentioned on the label. This means the products are a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.

Following are identification details, including batch codes and best before dates, for the affected products, which were distributed to Sainsburys, Ocado, Morrisons and Waitrose and should be returned to the retailers for a full refund:

“We are so sorry that this recall has happened. We issued it as a precaution as one of our suppliers had a breach in their cross-contamination process with a dairy product, meaning there was the risk of traces of dairy in one of our ingredients,” stated Nick Croft-Simon and Teo Ferrari, co-founders of the Oxford, England-based company in an open letter to customers. “This is an isolated incident relating to a small number of our products. Whilst the risk was small, we wanted to be open with everyone so as to prevent putting people at even the slightest risk, and therefore placed the recall for a few specific date codes as soon as we found out. We have put several additional controls in place with all inbound suppliers to ensure that this can never happen again.

“The supermarkets have cleared the stock at risk already and so anything you see on the shelf has been checked and approved.”
