Campanelli headquartered in Braintree completed
Campanelli Construction, a construction management company and division of Campanelli headquartered in Braintree, Massachusetts, on August 15 announced completion of a 175,000 square foot cold storage warehouse for Seafrigo USA Cold Storage in Elizabeth, New Jersey. The project, which began in August of 2012 was finished nine weeks ahead of schedule.
The new facility is situated at 735 Dowd Avenue, directly off US Interstate 95 and only minutes from the Newark Airport. The building was constructed on a historic fill site, previously the location of a 160,000 square foot FedEx facility.
“Campanelli has established a great presence in New Jersey for our expertise in cold storage warehouse and distribution facility construction. We have greatly enjoyed working with Condigel S.A., the parent company of Seafrigo, as well as the developer, Vestal, and look forward to building another facility for them in the near future,” said Jeff DeMarco, partner and president of Campanelli Construction. The company has constructed almost a million square feet of freezer facilities in the state of New Jersey over the past six years and over 2.6 million square feet of cold storage facilities throughout the country.
Seafrigo, headquartered in France, is a logistics company that specializes in international freight forwarding and warehousing fresh and exported goods. The company’s new flex building holds 15,000 pallets and includes 130,000 square feet of cold storage space (45,000 square feet of freezer space, 85,000 square feet of humidity controlled cooler space), 30,000 square feet of dock space, and 16,000 square feet of office space. There are 25 overhead door locations and a 1.5 megawatt backup generator to power the entire facility in case of a sustained power loss.
“We are extremely pleased that the project was not only completed ahead of schedule, but also was built with great quality and attention to detail. As Seafrigo continues to grow both in the US and internationally, we hope to partner again with Campanelli,” stated Eric Barbe, owner of Seafrigo.
