Los Angeles, California-headquartered Caulipower has launched a new riced cauliflower range distributed in Greiner Packaging’s 100% recyclable, reusable, microwavable K3 cardboard-plastic packaging. Three flavors are available – Baja-style, Sesame Citrus and Curried – each listing three to five net carbohydrates and 100-160 calories per serving. Packed in a reusable, recyclable, microwaveable cup, the line is gluten-free, vegan, and keto-certified.

“We’ve taken riced cauliflower and turned it on its head,” said Gail Becker, the company’s founder and chief executive officer. “Portable, convenient, freezable and microwavable, the innovative K3 pack from Greiner is ideal for a product which is designed as a healthy heat-and-eat at home meal, a quick side dish for dinner, or a delicious grab-and-go lunch. It really is the cup that does it all.”

Working with the Greiner Packaging team at its factory in Pittston, Pennsylvania, Caulipower opted for the 24-ounce K3 light-weight thermoformed cup made from polypropylene (PP), which uses up to 33% less material than a conventional direct-printed, thermoformed cup of the same size. It is wrapped with a cardboard outer layer.

Thanks to its reduced plastic content, the K3 packaging solution has an improved CO2  footprint, and it can be recycled efficiently as the cardboard and plastic can be easily separated.

The material used to make the K3 pack has been developed to withstand the low temperatures required for cold storage and freezer aisle storage as well as the microwaving oven preparation stage prior to consumption.

Caulipower Riced Cauliflower is now available at retail stores across the United States and online for home delivery through Amazon, joining the company’s assortment of frozen products including cauliflower crust pizza, chicken tenders, cauliflower tortillas, and SweetPotaToasts.

Headquartered in Kremsmünster, Austria, Greiner Packaging has been a leading manufacturer of plastic packaging in the food and non-food sectors for the past 60 years. The company employs a workforce of around 5,000 people at more than 30 locations in 19 countries. Annual revenues amount to approximately €690 million, including joint venture sales.
