North York, Ontario-based Florentina Foods Ltd. has purchased a 4.076-acre parcel of land in Orangeville to build a new factory. The Canadian co-packer of private label ready meals and other frozen retail products currently operates two plants in North York, situated about 48 miles southeast of Orangeville.

“Our location within the heart of Ontario’s agricultural region, when coupled with the town’s proximity to markets in the Toronto area and the USA, attracted the company,” said Mayor Jeremy D. Williams.

Food is a sector that remains strong regardless of economic swings, and provides well-paying steady employment.”

Construction of the 55,000- to 70,000-square-foot manufacturing plant, which will likely employ up to 60 workers upon completion, is expected to begin with the next several months.
