Concern About Plastic in Quorn Swedish Style Balls Prompts Recall

Quorn Foods is recalling 300-gram packs of frozen Quorn Swedish Style Balls from retail stores in the United Kingdom because they may contain small pieces of plastic from a manufacturing equipment part that got into an ingredients mix, resulting in pieces of hard white plastic entering post production packaging.

“The possible presence of plastic makes the product unsafe to eat and presents a potential choking hazard,” warned the UK Food Standards agency in an alert at its website.

Quorn Foods’ customer service department advises shoppers who bought the meat Mycoprotein-based product to return it to the place of purchase to receive a full refund. No receipt is required.
