After a successful trial run in New York City during the past three months, the faux meat Beyond Sausage Sandwich will be added to menus at more than 9,000 Dunkin’ restaurants across the United States beginning November 6. The Canton, Massachusetts-headquartered operator will offer free samples between 8 and 10 AM on November 8 and 9 to familiarize customers beyond New York with the product.

First introduced exclusively at the chain’s 163 outlets in Manhattan during July, the Beyond Sausage Sandwich quickly became one of the top-selling sandwiches in the test market, second only to Dunkin’s Bacon, Egg & Cheese Bagel offering. This led to acceleration of plans for the national launch, which was initially scheduled for January of 2020.

Dunkin’ – which specializes in serving coffee, doughnuts and breakfast sandwiches and was is known as Dunkin’ Donuts among most customers – is the first national quick service restaurant (QSR) operator in the United States to expand traditional on-the-go breakfast choices by serving Beyond Breakfast Sausage. The meat alternative patty features 10 grams of 100% plant-based protein made of peas, mung beans, rice and sunflower and coconut oil to ensure juiciness, accented with a mix of select spices served in an English muffin with egg and American cheese. The sandwich contains 29% less total fat, 33% less saturated fat and fewer calories, cholesterol and sodium than traditional pork sausage, egg and cheese breakfast sandwiches served on English muffins by the chain.

“We are extremely proud of our partnership with Beyond Meat and thrilled to be the first US quick service restaurant to offer Beyond Breakfast Sausage nationwide,” said Dunkin’ President and CEO Dave Hoffmann. “Dunkin’ is the brand that democratizes trends for America, and this latest addition to our menu gives consumers more choice to meet their evolving needs. As we continue to transform our brand, we’re proud to use our platform to give everyone the opportunity to enjoy the great taste and benefits of plant-based protein.”

“We are excited that everyone who runs on Dunkin’ now has the option to make a delicious plant-based sausage sandwich part of their day,” chimed in Ethan Brown, founder and chief executive officer of El Segundo, California-headquartered Beyond Meat.

Established in 2019, the company’s expanding range of frozen and chilled plant-based protein products are currently sold at approximately 53,000 retail and foodservice outlets worldwide.
