Smucker’s, whose Uncrustables range of frozen crustless PB&J and fruit-filled sandwiches are well known among retail shoppers in North America, is now out to take a slice of the fruit pie business. In partnership with licensee Golden West Food Group of Vernon, California, the Orrville, Ohio-headquartered J.M. Smucker Company is debuting a range of four 30-ounce ready-to-bake fruit crumb pies available in peach, apple, cherry and mixed berry flavors. No thawing required, so the crumb pies go directly from the freezer to the oven.
The licensing partnership was brokered by Brand Central, a global top 10 licensing agency representing Smucker’s.
Featuring real peaches, the peach pie boasts a golden crumb topping and crust, while the flaky crust apple pie is made with real apple slices and spices, topped with a crumb topping. Smucker’s cherry pie features real sweetened cherries, finished with a crumb topping and crust, while the mixed berry offering is filled with blackberries, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and cranberries.
Each pie serves up to seven slices, and the launch kicks off at select retail stores in the United States in October.
