Sweet potato sales in Australia reportedly rose 30% during the 12-month period ending in September of 2018, and McCain Foods is right on track of the growing popularity of the tuberous root vegetable. It recently rolled out Sweet Potato Cross Trax in 500-gram bags now found in the freezer aisles of Coles and Metcash stores nationwide, as well as in retail New Zealand retail outlets.

McCain Sweet Potatoe Cross TraxReady to serve after 30 minutes of baking, the crispy and slightly sweet product sells for A$4.99. It joins two other orange flesh colored McCain brand SKUs in the frozen food aisle: Straight Cut Sweet Potato Chips and Beer Battered Sweet Potato Shoestring Fries, each packed in 750-gram bags.

“These pub-style, highly dippable and loadable chips are a great side dish, offering a wholesome alternative to the standard fry,” said Allen Hunt, marketing manager at McCain Foods ANZ. “The oven-baked potato chip is a favorite among Australian families, but we know consumers continually want more choices in flavor, shape and texture.”
