Schwan’s Company to Acquire MaMa Rosa’s Pizza Business

Schwan’s Company, a Bloomington, Minnesota, USA-headquartered frozen food producer and marketer, announced on June 1 that it has agreed to purchase MaMa Rosa’s Pizza LLC from HGGC. Terms of the sale, which is expected to be finalized on June 15, were not disclosed.

Founded in 1979, MaMa Rosa’s manufactures products for the foodservice and retail sectors in the United States under the MaMa Rosa’s and Fight’n Tomato Pizza Co. pizza brands. It employs approximately 250 people and operates a 160,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Sidney, Ohio.

Founded in 1952, Schwan’s major retail brands in the frozen pizza category are Red Baron, Freschetta and Tony’s. Its subsidiaries are also leading providers of pizza to schools, convenience stores, colleges and universities.
