BlueEel, the importer, and Commerce, California-based Koikoi Trading Inc., the distributor, are voluntarily recalling certain lots of frozen Fu Zhou Fish Balls in multiple pack sizes (200-gram, 400-gram, and 5-lb) because they may contain undeclared wheat and sesame allergens, which the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires on product labels. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to these ingredients run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. To date, no illnesses have been reported.
The fish balls were distributed under the Yaba brand to foodservice and e-commerce channels and may have reached consumers through direct delivery to restaurant customers, wholesalers and online fulfillment. The scope of distribution reach include the states of California, Washington, Oregon, New York, Florida, Texas, New Jersey, Illinois, Massachusetts, Georgia, Arizona, Nevada and Colorado.
