Vinh Hoan Corporation of Vietnam won the Best New Product award at Seafood Expo Asia/Seafood Processing Asia trade show in Singapore on September 2 for its Cured Panga Croquette. Second and third place awards went to Lam Kee Fisheries Pte., Ltd of Singapore for its Japanese Curry Cod Cube, and Hai Sia Seafood Pte Ltd., also of Singapore, for Kami No Ebi.
The Seafood Excellence Asia competition recognizes product leaders in the Asian seafood market. Winners were selected from a group of new products entered in the competition from around the world. Judging was based on several criteria, including eating experience, packaging, market potential, originality and convenience.
A live judging took place at the show by a panel of high-volume seafood buyers and industry experts from the retail and foodservice industries across Asia. The jurists included representatives from Bidfood Malaysia, Central Food Wholesales Ltd. of Thailand, Cold Storage & Giant Singapore, Emart from South Korea, and Shangri-La Group from the Philippines.
The Seafood Excellence Asia awards competition is an extension of the Seafood Excellence awards featured at Seafood Expo North America and Seafood Expo Global, which consist of seafood buyers tasting, judging and selecting the best seafood products in the retail and HORECA (hotel/restaurant/catering) sectors.
The three-day Seafood Expo Asia/Seafood Processing Asia show, organized by Diversified, will continue through September 4 at the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention.
