Americold #1 in IARW Global Top 25, Followed by Lineage

Americold warehouse associateOperating 956,053,644 cubic feet (27,072,380 cubic meters) of refrigerated warehouse space at 158 locations in six countries, Americold Logistics continues to hold the top spot in Global Top 25 list of the largest temperature-controlled warehousing and logistics providers in the world. Lineage Logistics, which has 767,045,735 cubic feet of capacity in four countries, ranks #2.

Ranking third through tenth are: Swire Cold Storage, 358,052,001 cubic feet; Agro Merchants Group, 263,047,308 cubic feet; Nichirei Logistics Group, 174,090,030 cubic feet; Kloosterboer, 165,497,044 cubic feet; NewCold Coöperatief, 140,446,579 cubic feet; Versacold Logistics Services, 132,510,534 cubic feet; Interstate Warehousing, 100,227,481 cubic feet; and Frialsa Frigorificos, 97193,013 cubic feet.

The global rankings are compiled annually by the Alexandria, Virginia, USA-headquartered International Association of Refrigerated Warehouses (IARW), a core partner of the Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA). It also compiles the North American Top 25 list and identifies the largest operators in Europe and Latin America. The lists are determined by total capacity of temperature-controlled space.

IARW members currently own or operate 4.98 billion cubic feet (141.1 million cubic meters). A total capacity of 56.7 million cubic feet was added to the Global Top 25, which was an increase of 3% on average per Top 25 company over 2017. Companies worldwide reported increased capacity and several new companies joined IARW in the past year.

  • Latin America increased by 24.88 million cubic feet
  • Europe Top 10 increased by 47.82 million cubic feet
  • North America increased by 63.24 million cubic feet
  • Global has increased by 63.24 million cubic feet

The Global Top 25 operates 3.87 billion cubic feet (109.46 million cubic meters). The North American Top 25 accounts for 2.83 billion cubic feet (80.15 million cubic meters). The European Top 10 operates 664.65 million cubic feet (18.82 million cubic meters). The Latin American Top 20 accounts for 304.41 million cubic feet (8.62 million cubic meters).
