Kicking off the new year with an expansion of its line of organic super premium ice cream, Straus Family Creamery introduced a new flavor in late January: Cookie Dough. The suggested retail price is $7.99 per pint.
The Petaluma, California-headquartered company’s collection of 12 super premium ice creams in classic flavors including Vanilla Bean and Dutch Chocolate is made with Straus organic milk and cream from family dairy farms along the Northern California coast. The Cookie Dough flavor features with a base of velvety sweet cream ice cream mixed with chunks of chewy gluten-free cookie dough and decadent chocolatey chips. It is being sold regionally at independent and major supermarkets, and nationally at Sprouts Farmers Market stores.
Straus Family Creamery, founded in 1994, uses cream high in butterfat and a churning process that results in less air. And with egg yolks alone as a stabilizer, the products are free from preservatives, fillers, artificial ingredients and coloring agents.
The newly launched product is the third Straus ice cream cookie flavor, joining Lemon Cookie and Cookies & Cream, which are also gluten-free. For gluten-free consumers who prefer a clean ingredient list and the rich flavor and creamy mouthfeel of ice cream made with traditional dairy, Straus Family Creamery offers a special treat, as most gluten-free cookie ice creams are made with alternative milks, such as almond, oat, and soy, and often include gums and fillers.
“This is a flavor we’ve long wanted to create and after extensive recipe development by our team, the result is delicious,” said Albert Straus, the founder and owner of Straus Dairy Farm. “In addition, it showcases the truly rich taste of high-quality organic milk and cream from our organic dairies, all while supporting our mission to sustain family farms.”
Organic, regenerative and carbon neutral practices lie at the foundation of Straus Family Creamery’s supplying dairy farms. The creamery is supporting all of its 12 independent dairy producers, including Straus Dairy Farm, to achieve on-farm carbon neutrality by 2030.
