CPF Supports Ministry of Public Health in Thailand’s Covid-19 Fight

Bangkok-headquartered Charoen Pokphand Foods (CPF), a major producer of ready-to-eat and value-added frozen food products, has pledged support in the battle against Covid-19 in Thailand with an action plan to supply food to people suffering from the novel coronavirus, as well as medical staff of public hospitals across the country.

The “Food from the Heart” project includes delivery of microwaveable meals featuring basil chicken with rice, spaghetti carbonara and shrimp wanton, as well as freshly cooked rice, chicken meat and pork dishes.

Prasit Boondoungprasert, chief executive officer of CPF, said the company realizes the Ministry of Public Health’s hardships in dealing with challenges after Covid-19 was designated a dangerous communicable disease under the Communicable Disease Act B.E.2558.

As of March 8 there were at least 50 confirmed cases of novel coronavirus infections in Thailand, none of which have been deadly thus far. Globally, the pandemic that originated in the China has claimed the lives of 3,570 people, of which 3,070 have perished in the PRC. The number of confirmed cases worldwide is now 104,962 and climbing, with 80,651 recorded in China, according to that country’s National Health Center (NHC) and state media. Over 56,900 persons have reportedly recovered.

“As a safe food producer, we want to assist the Ministry of Public Health’s mission and take part in relieving the crisis that engulfs Thais and the country. We are extending our moral support to all physicians, nurses and health officers who are offering the frontline service. Please receive our heartfelt thanks,” said CEO Prasit.

Individuals suspected of having Covid-19 are urged to register at Line@CPFRESHMART >> http://bit.ly/2PFFcyB. CPF will cross check the registration list with the Department of Disease Control. Verification SMS are thereafter sent to the individuals and a CP Freshmart Delivery team will dispatch products from 109 distribution centers across the country (59 of which are in Bangkok) directly to their home.

Public hospitals are invited to register for food delivery at Hotline CP Freshmart 1788.
