Pittsburg, California-based Ramar Foods has unveiled a new range of dim sum and BBQ meats under its premium Magnolia brand. The products, formulated to appeal especially to ethnic Filipino tastes, are now available in the frozen food aisle of Asian grocery stores in the United States.

Here’s the lineup:

Siopao: Restaurant quality Chinoy-style steamed buns, with both pork and chicken asado fillings.

Siomai: Restaurant-sized Chinoy-style pork and chicken dumplings.

Sisig: Filipino stir-fried pork with chicken liver, served best with freshly squeezed lemon.

BBQ Skewers: Presented in a Filipino-style marinade. Available in pork and chicken.

The Philippines is regarded as an Asia-Pacific culinary and cultural melting pot, with a geographical uniqueness and special variety of food. With this new launch, Radar Foods endeavors to provide families in the diaspora and other consumers with the authentic taste Filipino-style dim sum and BBQ.

“I would say that Filipino cuisine is greatly influenced by Chinese, but they made a twist to the recipes to make it more suitable to the Filipino palate,” said Mary Jane Ali, a representative from Ramar Foods. “Dim sum in the Philippines has a different flavor profile from Chinese dim sum.”

Ramar Foods’ Magnolia brand will also be launching a new line of BBQ meats alongside the dim sum. Grilling BBQ meats is enjoyed by Filipinos as way to bring families together to celebrate life and each other. Convenient for any gathering, the Magnolia BBQ Skewers and Sisig are ready to cook.

“They are great for Game Day Sunday and always heavily requested by family and friends at the barbecue pit,” said Brett Kuntz, a Ramar Foods representative.

Magnolia’s new line of dim sum and BBQ meats is produced in California by Ramar Foods, which has been in business for over 50 years. The Magnolia brand, on the scene of 44 of those years, is associated with a wide variety of products including tropical ice cream.
