Morey’s Fine Fish & Seafood has introduced frozen Wild Flounder Garlic & Herb in twin packs. The first flounder fillet offering in its portfolio, the Mediterranean-style product combines chef-inspired flavors with high quality MSC-certified flounder for a convenient, easy-to-prepare meal.

Morey’s, a unit of Buffalo, New York-headquartered Rich Products Corporation since being acquired two years ago, has been in the fish business for over 80 years. Processed at a state-of-the-art plant in Motley, Minnesota, Morey’s extensive range includes value-added retail packs featuring salmon, tilapia, cod and mahi mahi in addition to flounder and other products.

The origin of the business dates back to 1937, when founder Ed Morey traded a load of sweet corn for a load of Lake of the Woods-caught fish from an angler whose pickup truck broke down near his home town of Motley. He sold the fish to a butcher shop in Little Falls, about 30 miles south of Motley. The profit paid for gasoline to drive over to Lake of the Woods, known as the “Walleye Capital of the World,” and buy more fish to pedal. Not long thereafter he built a smokehouse.

The company later expanded and today Morey’s frozen and smoked fish and seafood can be found in retail stores and on dinner tables throughout the United States.
