The Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA) announced on June 5 that Nathan James, operations manager at Lineage Logistics in the United Kingdom, is the 2023 European Future Leader Award winner. The prize, presented annually, recognizes talented young professionals who have the potential to become cold chain leaders and make a positive contribution to the development of the global temperature-controlled warehousing and logistics industry.

James competed for the award with Christof Vinck, logistics engineer at Stockhabo in Belgium, and Thomas Garnett, financial planning and analysis warehouse lead at Lineage Logistics in the UK.

“We had several very inspiring candidates who took the challenge this year and the competition was really tight,” said Julie Hanson, GCCA’s Brussels, Belgium-based Europe director. “Seeing those young talents embracing the cold chain is a very encouraging signal that there is growth and succession potential for the industry.”

“Winning this award is a huge achievement for me personally, and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to demonstrate my leadership potential in this essential industry,” said James.

Finalists were judged and evaluated on their knowledge level of the cold storage distribution sector, track record of excellence, communication and leadership skills by a panel of industry leaders. In addition, each candidate virtually delivered a short presentation.

James will represent Europe and go on to compete against young leaders from different regions of the world later this year for the GCCA Global NextGen Award.
