Bangkok-headquartered Thai Union Manufacturing Co. (TUM) has announced that it will launch a joint venture with JWD InfoLogistics Public Company Limited’s Pacific Cold Storage Co. subsidiary that will operate as Pacific TUM Cold Storage Co.

A new refrigerated warehouse, to be built near TUM factories in Samut Sakhon, will accommodate the increasing flows of raw material. The enterprise will be registered with capital of THB 160 million, with JWD and Thai Union Group each equally holding 50 percent of ordinary shares.

“The investment will enhance our supply chain management and competitiveness,” said Thai Union CEO Thiraphong Chansiri (pictured above). “The new joint venture will help secure the raw material storage for Thai Union and, at the same time, includes a business model that maximizes the space capacity. PCS has long experience in the cold storage business, and we look forward to embarking on this new journey together.”

PCS will manage the new storage operations after the facility completes in the fourth quarter this year.

Thai Union Group ranks among the world’s leading producers of frozen and shelf-stable seafood, with annual sales exceeding THB 132.4 billion (US $4.2 billion) and a global workforce of more than 44,000 people.
