Trader Joe’s and Rich Products Recall Frozen Falafel and Mozzarella Sticks

The Monrovia, California-headquartered Trader Joe’s retail grocery store chain has recalled 12-ounce private label packages of Fully Cooked Falafel (SKU# 93935) distributed in 35 states and Washington DC due to the possibility of contamination from rocks or pebbles.

“All potentially affected product has been removed from sale and destroyed,” according to a notice at the company’s website. “If you purchased or received any donations of Fully Cooked Falafel, please do not eat them. We urge you to discard the product or return it to any Trader Joe’s for a full refund.”

Mozzarella Sticks Allergy Alert

Meanwhile, Buffalo, New York-headquartered Rich Products is recalling 15 cases of Member’s Mark Breaded Mozzarella Sticks because they may contain undeclared egg and soy. People with an allergy or severe sensitivity to egg or soy may risk serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume these products. No illnesses have been reported to date.

Distributed to Sam’s Club retail stores in Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia, the mozzarella sticks are packed in 5 lb (2.26 kg) cardboard boxes with a “Best If Used By Date” of 12/28/2024 stamped on the side panel and UPC number 078742226880 on the back of the package.

The recall was initiated after Rich Products discovered that an unspecified raw materials were used during the manufacturing process that introduced egg and soy. Neither appears in the ingredient listing on the package.

Shopperss who have purchased the Member’s Mark Breaded Mozzarella Sticks subject to recall are urged to return them to the place of purchase to receive a full refund.
