Tyson Foods has introduced 28 frozen chicken products under its Tyson flagship brand in the European foodservice market, which includes restaurants, cafeterias and catering operations. The assortment ranges from coated, battered, skewered, raw and fried items.

Tyson acquired the Vienna, Austria-based European business from Itajai, Santa Catarinia, Brazil-headquartered BRF S.A. in 2019, building on the company’s growth strategy to expand offerings of value-added protein in global markets and to better serve customers in the EU.

“The world is evolving quickly, and today’s customers are faced with obstacles and adapting quickly to changes,” said Brett Van de Bovenkamp, regional president of Tyson Foods Europe. “We provide customers with locally relevant solutions by leveraging insights, innovation, R&D capabilities and resources across markets. Products distributed in Europe are sourced from our businesses in the Netherlands and Thailand, and from our joint venture in Brazil.”

Felipe Castillo, director of marketing and innovation for Tyson Foods Europe, added: “With two innovation centers in Europe, we have access to talented in-country teams that are helping us serve new customers, channels and geographies. Our goal is to address their needs by utilizing a comprehensive portfolio of products, while keeping sustainability top of mind.”

Multilingual packaging spells out nutritional information in 13 languages. Products produced in Europe are packed in recyclable 50 percent bio-based plastic material, while items sourced from Thailand and Brazil distributed in recyclable monolayer plastic.

Global demand for protein is increasing along with the world population. Euromonitor estimates that more than 90 percent of protein consumption growth in the next five years will occur outside the United States. Tyson Foods, which is headquartered in Springdale, Arkansas, USA, is committed to continue building its brand in Europe with more products expected to launch as well as resources to assist customers.

Following are descriptions of some of the value-added frozen products recently rolled out in Europe:

Battered Chicken Nuggets. The chopped and shaped chicken chunks in a crispy batter are popularly served with a dipping sauce and potato fries.

Mediterranean Chicken Double Stick. This innovative offering is made with tender inner fillets in a marinade of peppers, garlic and herbs including basil, oregano and thyme. Each piece is held between two skewers, making them visually appealing and easy to eat.

Southern Fried Chicken Breast Fillets. Each one is made with 100% chicken breast coated in crispy southern fried breadcrumbs and hand cut for a natural shape. They may be served as a main meal with coleslaw and french fries, or added to a more casual lunchtime menu as a burger.

Raw Chicken Breast Fillets. Versatile for use in stews or stir-fry recipe dishes, they also present well sliced on top of a salad.

Coated Chicken Crunchies. These bites are made with marinated, 100% chicken breast inner fillet, hand cut and coated in cornflake breadcrumbs. They are promoted as “ideal on a party menu served with pots of dip, or as a starter with a salad garnish.”
