Nestlé is bringing the Garden Gourmet Sensational range to UK supermarkets with its next generation of faux meat products. Starting on September 20, plant-based food enthusiasts in Britain will be able to buy the vegan offerings which have already proved popular in freezer and refrigerated cases in Continental Europe as well as within the UK hospitality sector.

From meat-free burgers to tender vegan fillet pieces, the Garden Gourmet Sensational range is promoted as having the “meatiest flavor and a juicier than ever texture.”

Made with quality ingredients, including responsibly sourced soya beans, the line offers a healthy and versatile choice of vegan products for consumers looking to cut down on meat without compromising on taste, according to Nestlé.

“With more and more people looking for great tasting, more sustainable plant-based food, we are very excited to bring the Garden Gourmet Sensation range to UK supermarkets,” said Honza Dusanek, managing director for food and dairy at Nestlé UK and Ireland. “We want people to fall in love with plant-based eating at first bite, which is why we have worked hard to deliver even more meat-like flavor and texture to satisfy even the most discerning of taste buds.”

The line initially currently includes four versatile plant-based products, consisting of the Sensational burger, mince, Cumberland-style sausages and Mediterranean-style fillet pieces, which can be easily switched into family meals.

The meat substitute products are high in protein and provide a good source of fiber. None of the offerings are high in fat, saturated fat, sugar or salt, meaning they have no red labels under the color-coded nutrition labeling system.

Garden Gourmet has already been available in the UK to caterers and foodservice operators through Nestlé Professional. Subway UK uses the Garden Gourmet brand as the sole provider of vegan “meatballs” in its popular “Meatless Meatball Marinara,” which is available in its outlets across Britain. Last year, the product claimed the top spot at PETA’s annual Vegan Food Awards in the Best Vegan Sandwich category.
