United States Cold Storage (USCS) has broken ground at a 40-acre parcel of land in Denton, Texas, to build a 7.7-million-cubic-foot public refrigerated warehouse that is scheduled to be up and running by late 2018. The site, strategically situated at the intersection of I-35E (Dallas) and I-35W (Fort Worth), is located between the two cities at the northern edge of the Dallas-Ft. Worth (DFW) Metroplex.

Well represented in the Lone Star States, Voorhees, New Jersey-headquartered USCS already operates 32.6-million cubic feet of space at three other warehouses in the Dallas and Ft. Worth market. Additionally, it has several facilities in Laredo and Arlington.

GeorgeCruzGeorge Cruz“Denton is an ideal distribution location for customers looking at access to the central United States as well as the DFW Metroplex,” said George Cruz, the company’s southern region senior vice president. “USCS continues to see customer growth and interest in this market, but does not have the space to accommodate that demand. Our new location will provide complementary freight consolidation services throughout the southwest. Along with sister facilities in Laredo, the Denton site also will support import/export business involving Mexico and Latin America.”

Upon completion, the Phase One site will house 25,712 pallet positions with three rooms offering storage temperatures ranging from -20°F to +60°F. Its fully enclosed, refrigerated shipping and receiving platform will have 22 dock doors and five rail dock doors. The facility will be served by the Kansas City Southern, one of the only rail lines going directly into Mexico.
