Clackamas, Oregon-based Pacific Seafood is expanding distribution of Newport brand seasoned raw shrimp in 454-gram retail bags. Two varieties, Honey Jalapeño and Savory Garlic Butter Seasoned Scampi, are now available in the freezer aisles of WinCo Foods stores and select Thriftway and Rancho Markets in the USA. Other leading supermarkets and grocery stores are scheduled to stock the SKUs in coming weeks.

“Research shows that consumers want to eat more seafood because of the health benefits and taste, but price and how to prepare it can be barriers to purchase. Pacific Seafood’s new frozen seasoned shrimp solves these challenges by helping busy shoppers get a healthy, flavorful seafood meal on the table in five minutes or less – and at an affordable price,” said Lacy Ogan, the company’s communications manager, noting that the SRP is $8.99.

The warmwater shrimp can be sautéd, broiled or grilled to provide quick, easy and flavorful protein for home dining solutions ranging from pasta and stir-fry dishes to rice bowls and salads – or they can be enjoyed as an appetizer with dipping sauce.

The product is dry rubbed with herbs and spices instead of marinated, so the shrimp shines and maintains its natural texture. Sustainably harvested and processed, the shellfish is Two-Star Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certified.

In business for more than 75 years, family-owned and operated Pacific Seafood employs more than 3,000 people at 41 facilities in 11 states and abroad. Engaged in every aspect of the business – from harvesting/fishing to aquaculture, processing and distribution – its extensive product line runs the gamut from value-added cod, haddock, founder and sole to salmon, crabmeat, tuna, tilapia and oysters in addition to wild caught and farmed shrimp.
