Thai Union Supports Red Cross Efforts to Help Victims of Coronavirus

Thai Union Group has thrown its support behind the fight against the Covid-19 health crisis in Thailand by joining a humanitarian assistance program organized by the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Trade of Thailand.

The Bangkok-headquartered company, which is a major producer of frozen shrimp and fish and is regarded as the world’s largest packer of shelf-stable tuna products made largely from frozen raw materials, delivered 42,000 cups of ready-to-eat Tuna Infusions to the Thai Red Cross. The food supplies will be distributed to the medical and related teams at Chulalongkorn Hospital, one of the main hospitals receiving Covid-19 patients in Thailand.

As of March 28, six deaths from the respiratory disease have been recorded in Thailand, while 1,245 cases have been attributed to the novel coronavirus scourge that originated in Wuhan, China late last year. Globally, according to WHO statistics, the death toll has reached 27,524. Confirmed cases internationally are said to be 580,090, while the number of recovered patients is reportedly 114,594.
