Captain D’s, the Nashville, Tennessee, USA-headquartered fast casual seafood restaurant chain, on January 27 launched bargain-priced $4.99 meals featuring flounder, catfish and batter-dipped fish. Available through February 23, each of the full meal deals come with six butterfly shrimp, a choice of two side dishes and hush puppies.

“We know how important delicious, affordable full meals are to our guests,” said Bindi Menon, vice president of national marketing. “We pride ourselves on our ability to offer premium seafood, like flounder and catfish, at a great value.”

This lineup includes other menu pleasers such as the Ultimate Appetizer (butterfly shrimp, clam strips and popcorn shrimp) and the Fisherman’s Catch (batter dipped fish, butterfly shrimp, clam strips, popcorn shrimp, stuffed crab shell, a choice of two side dishes and hush puppies. Also available is fire-grilled tilapia served over rice, and seasonal seafood gumbo.

Founded in 1969, Captain D’s currently operates more than 530 restaurants in 22 states. Many components featured on its menu are supplied to operators in frozen form.

Last month the company opened its latest franchise unit in Lewisburg, Tennessee, under an agreement with Trident Holdings principals Chris Benner and Tim Stokes. The duo has acquired eight corporate-owned Captain D’s locations in Mississippi with plans to develop 10 new Captain D’s throughout the state, as well as in key Southeast target markets, including Tennessee, Georgia and Louisiana.

Since 2015, Trident Holdings LLC has since become the brand’s largest franchisee, currently operating over 30 restaurants across seven states. Looking ahead, Trident plans to continue growing its Captain D’s network while branching out with the brand’s sister company, Grandy’s, a Southern-style quick service concept, including 10 units in the pipeline beginning in Nashville.

“Our rapid growth with Captain D’s is a true testament to the exceptional corporate support system the brand offers franchisees. In a segment dominated by burger and chicken concepts, Captain D’s high-quality, affordable seafood products resonate with consumers, which is why it’s one of the best opportunities in franchising today,” said Benner.
